Sun 28 Feb: Folkestone 66-74 U18NL
A nail-bitting game that went to the wire. The team, after the 100 mile trip and having to adjust their game because of different hoops, started slow but positively, working hard inside the key both in offense and defense. The baskets were exchanged with Alex being very strong under the baskets, helping in both ends of the court - must have been the new shoes ;-).
Sat 7 Feb: U18NL v 7Oaks 84-60
The team didn't continue where we finished in our last game vs. Shoreham. With Alex injured, a big gap in our big line-up, the team arrived to face a very good tall 7Oaks team. However it was evident with exception of a couple of players, the rest were not mentally there.. Started the first quarter going down 19-6 as the opposition were playing a very tight defense on BP, sometimes illegally, with the rest of the team not being able to finish their attempts. The second quarter was better, finishing equal 20-20.
Sat 17 Jan: U18NL v Raynes Park 58-38
Finally it all clicked together!! After a tough loss to take in OT ( and some very questionable calls - again...) the day before, the Blackhawks were determined to make amends, even against Raynes Park who were undefeated in the league.
That was going to change though !!
Sat 24 Jan: U18NL v Shoreham 85-93
Almost a perfect game except the result ... The U18NL continued where they left the week before, after their win against Raynes Park with confidence really high and first time with a full squad too..
Sat 09 Jan: U18NL v Kingston 56-58
Another close game and a loss which hard to take. However, from the positive point of view, this was a +26 point swing from our first game, which is down to all the hard work that the team is doing every week. The game started with a delay of 30min and without a natural point guard, the team knew that they had a really hard game ahead of them.
