Hunters Open Their Season With A Win

Woking Blackhawk Hunters 80 - 54 Windsor Warriors

The Hunters went on the road against Windsor to tip off the 2017/18 season.

With a full bench and fresh from a strong performance at the Surrey Rose Bowl, Woking were eager to get out to a good start. But the Warriors had other plans. Despite a decent offensive performance from the Blackhawks, a strong half by the Windsor big man gave the home team a 4-point lead going into the break.

The Hunters brought the hammer down in the 3rd quarter. Their defensive effort held Windsor to a measly 9 points in the quarter. Meanwhile, the visitors notched 28 points - almost the same as they had scored in the entire 1st half. The 4th was more of the same as Woking took a commanding lead and kept it throughout.

"Everybody contributed in the second half," said coach Knode. "Individual performances by everybody gave us that win."

Rhys Johnson led the Hunters with 25 points. Devon James added 18, with 13 rebounds. Dan Marshall scored 13 points. The Hunters swiped an amazing 23 steals against Windsor.

Coach Knode is ready for the next game. "Bring on Woodley." He said after the game.

The Hunters play The Woodley Harriers at the Hawks Nest on Thursday night (5th October).
