Woking Blackhawk Flyers 62:70 Thames Valley Cavaliers

Flyers Push The Cavaliers all the Way

The Flyers hosted the undefeated league leaders Thames Valley Cavaliers in their Basketball England Development League fixture at Woking College on Saturday. A clash they were looking forward too with relish.
The first quarter did not go as planned, whilst for the first few minutes the lead bounced between the two sides, in the few minutes before the first break the Cavaliers went on a run a opened up a 9 point lead winning the quarter 21:12.

With the Flyers in the ascendency the Cavaliers captain had an awkward fall under their home basket which resulted in a displace kneecap requiring transport to hospital for medical assistance.

The delay in the game seem to unsettle the Flyers more than the Cavaliers and on resuming the game in the third quarter, the cavaliers widened their advantage by a further 8 points giving them a 14 point lead 55:41 which would have been 6 points more if Damian Knode had not sunk two three’s in the closing minute of the period.

Coach Knode inspired to squad come out with increased aggression in the forth and yet again the Flyers responded by closing the lead, the Cavaliers would not however relinquish their lead. So whilst winning the quarter by 6 the Cavaliers came out with an 8 point winning margin.

In his second game since returning from injury Andre Bayliss was the Flyers MVP claiming 6 points with a whole clutch of rebounds and an whole clutch of action points.
